Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday! We stayed home,Rich had doctors appointments that we felt he needed to keep. Of course that didn't mean it was a quiet Christmas! We played Wii until our arms fell off and T had her friends over for a "rockin" session with Rock Band and Guitar Hero III. Our furniture is still moved back to allow for all the activity playing these games! If you look closely at the top picture you can see the tattoos on T right arm. It is a sleeve that slips over the arm and really does look real! Grandkids are coming this weekend so I am sure it will stay lively and loud!!

Wii Did Something

We have never done before! Guess you are never too old! We wanted to get our grandkids a Wii for Christmas and of course there are none around! We found a store that would have 60 this moring at 9 am. We had to purchase a MVP card for $20 to do this. We arrived at 7 am and joined the 20 people in front of us to wait our turn. It was cold and windy but we really enjoyed our time in line visiting with the 5 people in front and behind us! One lady even brought us coffee! We have now joined the ranks of those with a Wii! I don't think we have ever stood in a line for 2 hours to get anything and may never do it again but overall it was a fun experience!!

Santas Lap

I talked T into sitting on Santas lap over the Thanksgiving holidays, I don't know how many more years I can do that! I did a quick layout just to document this!
This child has a thing for the backs of any remote device. She love to take the little piece that holds the batteries in and poof they disappear! We have used a large amount of scotch tape and duct tape to keep the batteries in her remotes. She "lost" the back off of our remote for the TV in the family room last week, so that rendered it useless and I refused to use duct tape! The very first thing she did with the new one was to remove the little holder....but I saw her! She has been threatened to not reach 17 if she looses it again! The joys of a 16 year old!!

More Memories

The Red Stocking. My Mother made 6 of these way back in the 1950's. They are plain and simple compared to some but I do remember her sitting in her chair sewing the felt and sequins on carefully by hand.
T. Stocking. I cross stitched this on linen and thought it was beautiful, but T was such a tomboy way back then she did not like it at all. Luckily, years have changed her opinion of this.
Elves. I made these in the early 80's when I used my sewing machine for actually sewing on material. I entered the little fellas in our county fair and won first place.
Tree skirt. The best memory of making this tree skirt was sitting all alone in our game room with the stero turned up and sewing all the felt and sequins by hand. The kids were all in school and dh was in New Mexico hunting. We lived where it snowed and I could stay warm and toasty, watch it snow, work on the tree skirt, and enjoy the week alone! This skirt has certainly seen better days but I still can't bring myself to give it up! Maybe someday I will do another one!

Fond Memories

I took pictures of some Christmas decorations that brought back fond memories of years gone by.
The ceramic Santas. I remember going to a ceramic shop and sitting while my Mother and aunt sanded and painted these wonderful Santas. I have had them for years and each Christmas I remember that my Mother was very artistic and my aunt was not but I love these Santas that they both made over 40 years ago!
The block tree. I made it about 15 years ago and I still love to get it out every year, get the hot glue gun and glue the pieces back on. Last year my dog got tangled in the tablecloth and the tree fell to the ground and into a million pieces. I finally found the instructions oh how to put it back together, so once again it has a regal spot in our house. The grandkids love to spin it around picking out their favorite toy!
The 12 days of Christmas. I loved cross stitching way back when and this is still one of my favorite pieces.
The pillow. A friend gave me this pattern in 1986 and I love the colors and children on the words, so each year I take it out and it has a special place on our sofa!
I will post some more fond memories of the Christmas decorations around our house tomorrow!

Our Tree

I am a horrible Christmas tree picture taker, but in real life is does look so pretty with all the acrylic birds and bulbs! T. decorates the tree every year and this year was no exception. I love to see that the older she gets the better the tree looks!

Acrylic Advent Calendar

I love all the cookie sheet advent calendars that I have seen around so I decided I had to make one! This one had circle and square acrylic pieces with the numbers stamped on each piece and little Holiday embellishments to each one. I used Basic Grey Blitzen paper and left the calendar part plain so the acrylic would show up! I added 5 little acrylic birds that I embellished and added bling!

A Layout or Two

It seems like all I have done the past few months is teach mini album classes and make them but I finally did 2 layouts this past week. Of course now that it is done T tells me I spelled Brittany's name wrong, so I will fix it so I can be socially correct! The ear piercing layout was done using an old Scrapaddict kit, the Halloween was just scraps from a mini album!

Thanksgiving in Red Oak

We had a super time with the kids but it was so cold. The cold front brought wind and sleet so outside activities were limited to few and far between. We did some scrapbook shopping at the Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, T&K did a fun make and take.
We did visit Santa but it was so cold we didn't stay long. Had a fun lunch at the 1801 restaurant with super coconut cream pie for dessert! The turkey day and food was wonderful and of course we all ate way too much!T spent some of the cold time outside in downtown Waxahachie taking some pictures of buildings and things that caught her eye! This picture was an elevator in the Rogers hotel, opened in 1801. My DIL did like her Summer Fun album!

Acrylic House

I saw a version of this acrylic house on the net and dh was nice enough to cut several for me. It is a fun 4 page, stamped, glittered, and jeweled holiday gift.I love the little door knob and hinges. If you are interested in an acrylic house to decorate just email me, these make perfect gifts or one to keep for yourself

Invisibly Spooky Album Give Away

Here are some pictures of the class last night and Linda won the album! Congrats!! Linda! It was a fun class and turned very lively around 9pm. One of the women had taken some pain meds for a back injury and had a reaction. I called 911, the fire truck and ems, lights flashing and sirens screaming, came to the store. They tried to take her to the hospital but she refused, hopefully she will be ok!

Halloween

Of course it is Halloween night and T is finally off restriction so she is trying to find a costume. We dug out the box of costumes and this beautiful blonde mop of hair became Brittany. We are past the age of baby dolls but she borrowed some from a neighbor. Once again you are never too old to love Halloween!

Retreat Weekend

What a fun sleepless weekend in a town full of history! MD Resort is a beautiful bed and breakfast in Aurora Texas, 13 miles from the county seat, Decatur, Texas. This town is small, quaint and full of history! Janet and I took a quick walking tour of this county seat and these are some of the fun sights on our walk!
The retreat was great fun, lots of fun ladies and good food! Patsy of Scrappers Hideaway has great retreats for those of you in the central Texas area! We made 2 shopping stops, the Scrap Pad in Colleyville, lots of fun and a huge store, and the smaller but very friendly store in Decatur! We also walked the grounds of the resort, visting the buffalo, donkeys, and horses just waiting for our attention! Yes, in the picture of the resort there are people in the pool and it is October! Gotta love the Fall in Central Texas!

Janet and I met Kathy and Liz at Archivers yesterday for a long day of scrapping and fun! I actually did a few layouts before I left and we worked on our pumpkin albums that we bought at Recollections on our last road trip! Janet actually glued again:) and she ordered an ATG gun!! We are trying to get some projects finished before we go to Paty's Scrappers Hideaway Retreat next weekend!!
Club Soccer is coming to an end and we finally won a game today! One more game and this long season will be over and school soccer will start!!

The Tat and Skydive

I am not a big fan of tatoos, smalls ones are ok. My son & dil have small ones in places that won't sag :). T friend turned 18 last week and to celebrate went skydiving and got a tattoo! Luckily, T can't do either for 2 more years! As far as getting a tat, I think when they come at her with the needles she will change her mind! Skydiving may happen, and that will be ok. She is taking aviation in school and will be flying her first plane next week!

Pumpkin Patch

We really don't have a pumpkin patch here, nor do we have a lot of fall colors, so this is the nearest thing we have. A local church brings in a truckload of pumpkins and T and her friend were "forced" to go there today to take pictures! There were a little embarrassed being the oldest "kids" there but cooperated for a few minutes!
