Stamp Storage and

the last of the vacation layouts, well, the last I finished at the retreat.
Check out this Stamp Storage idea by Megan here. I read this and thought it was a really neat idea, and then this weekend I saw her system in person, and just had to do it! I worked on it some this weekend and it is going to be great.Kathy and Janet think I have way too much time on my hands but I know this way I can take the stamps with me and actually use them!
The last 2 layouts I did this weekend.

Dumb, Dumb, Thing to do!

My DH tried to access our online banking Tues. night and couldn't get on. I tried again yesterday and couldn't get on. For security reasons after so many attempts they just lock you out. I tried to call the bank but got the famous voice mail several times. The phone rang and it was a text message from the bank ( or so I thought) and said there were problems with our account and they needed our debit card #,and pin #. I know, what you are thinking, never give it out! Well I wouldn't have if I could have accessed on line. So, I did, not only once but twice from both business and personal accounts. I still could not get online, so we took a trip to the bank. Seems as if (I think, they never would admit),that someone hacked into the system and got phone numbers. The bank said they had about 6-7 people come in before us that had the same text message. They said they never send text messages. Anyway, no damage done, just got new ATM cards and a lesson well learned. Oh, we both got another text message tonight from another phone number but tonight we are much smarter!!

Every Dog Must Have His Day

in court that is! Last November a renter moved in to a house diagonally from us. We have no alleys so our back yards are only a fence apart. This man brought a six month old German Shepherd puppy with him.He put the dog in the back yard and promptly forgot about him. The dog barked all the time!He barked for hours during the day and until 3 or 4 in the morning,5 out of the 7 days, every week. February came and he is now bigger, has a louder bark, and is still barking the night and day away. We visited with our neighbor on several occasions and his response was he wanted his dog to bark. Animal Control came out, gave him 2 citations, my neighbors and myself filed complaints with the city. His response was he would keep paying fines and letting his dog bark. The case finally came to trial yesterday, and in this town, a barking dog is considered a nuisance and a criminal offense. I testified, animal control testified, our neighbor testified, and the dog owner had his say. The judge ruled he was guilty on 8 counts and his fine was $1250. The dog owner starts whining he can't afford that, he will give the dog away in lieu of the fine. No deal says the judge, he did reduce the fine to a mere $800 but if he doesn't keep the dog quiet, next time he will get to visit jail plus a fine. Moral, try to get along with your neighbors and keep your dog from barking 5-6 hours a day.

More VW Relatives

Bet you thought I had forgotten about my bug relatives, nope! I even have spies on the lookout for them. Marie found these for me.
My yellow bellied, chicken livered cousin and my spoiled (spoiler) niece are tooling around the country but Marie had her trusty camera!

Sunday at the Bob Bullock Museum

We decided on a whim to drive to Austin to the Bob Bullock Museum and see the Batman movie in IMax. T loved the movie, it was OK for me but very long, and Rich hated it. It did seem to go on forever, could they not keep the Joker in jail?? He was the best part of the movie! We all left with a headache from all the noise. We decided to eat at Pappadeaux, and it was good, not great! I had coconut shrimp and a medium warm baked potato! When we were walking out of the restaurant 2 homeless people hit us up for $ to eat at the Jack in the Box, I would have given them my leftovers but I don't think that was what they really wanted. They begged for a while and then rode off on their bikes. It was a fun night but I had enough IMax to last for a long time!

August 2008 Favorite Photos

I am staying caught up with my 12 month favorite photos. This is August 2008 Photos, and looking back through the book I think I only missed January going to a retreat:)
I just had to do a page about Dodger, we missed him during his MIA status but now he is back until the weather turns cold and then he will dig in somewhere.

Layouts for Senior English

Each Senior is required to do a scrapbook for English. Of course she wanted to wait until the 11th hour to start, but she had some down time today so she did these 2 layouts. There has to be 100 words of journaling, and I think I will have her journal on my layouts, she is much better! She did it all and was quiet pleased with the results, me too!! Now only 6 more to go in 6 weeks.

The Senior

It is hard to believe that this is T last year in high school. We finally made it! She is excited to be a senior but also ready to graduate and go to college.
She cut her hair a few months ago and decided to color in her black hair for the start of school. She now has a few little red and blonde streaks in the front of her hair. She loves the short hair and now the new color.
T thought the first picture I put on here made her look like a convict with a big nose,so she snapped a new one.

Road Map

I am still working on our vacation album for this year. I decided to use the MM road sign die cuts to separate each state we visited. Of course I couldn't get it straight when I took the picture but it really is, almost:)

Surfing Word Album

I just had to do this Surfing Word Album for T. She had so much fun learning to surf while on vacation this summer.

T has to do a scrapbook album for her Senior English class. On one hand I am excited to see what she does but dread the "put it off until the last nano second" part:(

I am so glad Gustav didn't destroy NOLA. It was strange seeing the deserted streets that we had walked down just a month ago. We would love to have some rain from the storm but I don't think we will get a drop.

Caramel Dip

Last night was the final crop for SBF. There were about 30 there and it was bittersweet to visit with them, knowing this would be the last time we would be in the lss. I actually did 3 layouts so that was an accomplishment for me.
Here is the recipe for the Caramel Dip, that Kathy gave to me. Believe me is it finger licking good on apples, strawberries and just your fingers. Easy as pie to make.
8 oz. Cream cheese softened
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. sugar
1 t. Vanilla
Blend well with mixer. Add 1 to 1/2 package Heath or Skor Chips. Stir and enjoy!
I use both green and red apples. I slice them and soak them in lemon juice and water, drain and sprinkle with Fruit Fresh. Cover with a damp paper towel and refrigerate until ready to serve. Delish!!
Here are the layouts I finished last night. The 17 at Cocoa Beach was from a sketch by Lily at Playground of Memories. Love the sketch.
Slowly working though the 300 vaction pictures. I am using the Bazzill Lickey Slip album so I can put 4x6 picutres in between the 12 x 12 layouts and be done with them. Great idea and so easy.
