to drive! T has been waiting since July 12 for the "real" drivers license!! Yesterday was the day! She rushed home from school (probably the fastest she has come home after school EVER) and we mad a mad dash to the drivers license bureau! Ten minutes later, fingerprinted, mug shot taken,$5, we walked out officially a licensed driver! She finally gets to drive without us old folks in the car!! This morning she was up way early, dressed and out of the house by 7:30. Off she drove in the Avalanche....independence at last! There is a sequel she knows nothing about to follow Friday!

Lot of Work
My scrapbook room was out of control! It had taken over two closets, 6 rolling carts and any other space I could stick my goodies! I spent the last week cleaning and purging! What a job!! My dh installed wire shelving from floor to ceiling in one closet while I emptied closets! The result went from a big huge mess to an organized closed and only one rolling cart!! I am having a huge scrapbook garage sale in the next few weeks and rid the guest bedroom of stacks and stacks of sb goodies!!

End of Summer Days
School started today! T is a Junior and excited about being an upperclassman!! The only thing missing is her car!
This weekend was the last fling before school and soccer season starts and we spent Saturday at Fiesta Texas. T took 3 of her friends and we spend the day in 100 degree heat and mingling with thousands of other fun seekers! They rode the Scream, no way would I get on that ride, but they loved it!! We had a blast but it was so good to get home and cool off!
Sunday T was finally baptized. I say finally because this is something she has been trying to do for months. I was gone May and June. July was spent just getting things settled after I was gone so long. August we had some soccer conflicts, a vacation and 2 weeks ago we arranged for that Sunday to be the day! She went to the back of the church to get ready and a small problem....no water in the tank! This Sunday we tried again and the minister assured us there would be water! A beautiful, powerful and meaningfull moment for the family!

Piercing!!
T has been pestering me for weeks to get her cartilage pierced! I don't really have a problem with her doing it except for the problems it causes in soccer. She can't take it out or change it for 3 months and some refs make you tape and put a band-aid over the piercing. Today we were at the mall and this was the big day!! She picked out her earring, sat in the chair and before she could react it was over!! Now comes the fun part, the cleaning and turning everyday. We will see if this was worth it in a few weeks!!
Something good about Houston
We spent this weekend in Houston at a soccer tournament! Everywhere we drove there were hurricane warnings posted and to keep you gas tank full! We played one game at 8 am in Tomball and just as we were getting ready to play the 2 pm game, the rains came. That game was cancelled so we spent the afternoon shopping! I went to some lss and T went to the Woodlands Mall! We both had fun and found some goodies!! We had another 8am game Sunday and luckily we got to play! We left Tomball and on the way out of town there is a little hole in the wall Mexican food place that we had stopped the last time we played there! The inside seats about 8 and the owners speak very little English but the food is to die for!! Never judge a book by its cover, or the bars on the windows!!

Port A
We spent a few hot days in Port Aransas. Lounging by the pool at the hotel, soaking up the sun, a great way to relax. We went to the beach, fed the seagulls, sat in the sand, and played in the Gulf. We had to hit the tourist shops for all the "necessary" things to bring back! Rich went deep sea fishing for 8 hours and caught the biggest fish of the day!

Summer Visit
The 3 grandkids that just moved closer to us spent last week with us! The rainy season continued the first 3 days of their vist and once again our lights went out for several hours! We cooked hot dogs, warmed up spaghetti and pizza on the grill so we could feed the hungry group! They played a game of Tiddlywinks on the back porch to pass the time of no power! They "hung" around exercising and the youngest helpe me pull the grapes off the stems! The younger 2 got new bikes and the 12 yo (almost 13) got new Nikes to ejnoy while they were here. We tried fishing 2 times, the first time the rains came down in torrents and had to run for cover. The 2nd time the weather held out and they caught some fish!! We all spent time cooling off at the pool and chilled some more at the movies watching Hair Spray! We loved having them and had a great summer visit!

We have water
This has been such a rainy summer for us! The lakes are all closed due to the debris and high water! I doubt the lakes will be open the rest of the summer, the flood gates are open, yet the rain just keeps filling the lake back up! This is a picture of a campground just to give you a peek of the high water! Of course over the last 2 days we have received 2 plus inches and a zillion mosquitoes!

June Layouts
I actually had time to do a few layouts in June. I will always remember sitting in my aunts sunroom doing these layouts in between hospital time. Her sunporch looked out over her beautiful backyard with huge pecan trees, such a peaceful place with the squirrels scampering around!
Acrylic Album
This is a work in progress. I am making this fun acrylic album for a friend. What a lot of fun to work on!
It is so good to be back home yet sad that my sweet 91 year old aunt passed away July 1. Thanks to all of you for your support, it meant a lot during the last 2 months.

One More Day
Father time sometimes ages people very fast! I went home 2 weeks ago after being with my aunt. A week ago last Tuesday she was feeling bad when I called so I had the sitter call an ambulance. She was readmitted for the third time and I have been here for 10 days and holding. She has the primary, ifectious disease, lung, and kidney doctors all stumped, along with me! Her white count stays around 17000 even with very strong antibotics. She received 2 units of blood which gave her some energy. Now if she would eat that would improve things. They are moving her to a skilled nursing floor tonight and I don't think she will like that...they are going to push her! Maybe one day in the near future life will settle down!

91 and holding
My sweet little 91 year old aunt has been in the hospital for the last 2 weeks. She developed pneumonia about a month ago but of course she didn't know that and a Dr. just gave her medicine over the phone. That medicine didn't work and her neighbor took her to the hospital around the 10th. I drove down and she was dismissed on the 12th against my wishes and we changed doctors and she was readmitted on the 16th. It has been an up and down time but this time we changed hospitals and doctors and things seem to be improving! She was supposed to go home Saturday when my cousin was with her while we were in Houston at a soccer tournament, but she still wasn't doing good so now the dr. is shooting for Monday! I will fly back to Lubbock early tomorrow and get her home hopefully and then maybe come back home by Wednesday! I have to find someone to stay with her and I am still not comfortable leaving her alone! She has been remarkably healthy for 91 years!!

How Many Hours Can I
go without sleep over the weekend? Not as many as I used to that is for sure! I think I survived this weekend on less than 8 hrs of sleep and I know that I know that today! We had a great time, the food was great, the scrappin was super ( I actually got 18 pages done), the girls were a blast, and the B&B was wonderful! I had a great time teaching the make-n-take and think that everyone enjoyed it! Super weekend, great job Shannon and Patsy!

Super Elf Scrapper
Can you spot me in this picture? A fun "you light up my life" class I taught this week at the LSS. It was a mystery class, no one knew what the class was going to be, just show up and take your chances! We had a blast and of course everyone paid close attention to the Super Elf Scrapper
