Annoying Phone Call
My dh was surfing the net a few nights ago and filled out a form for some additional information. Within a few minutes they called and said the information was free but it would cost something for shipping and handling. He said "no thanks and don't call again".Well, this opened a big huge can of worms. His cell has been ringing every 10-30 minutes until about 9 at night. The call is coming from New Jersey but you can't call it back. When they call, they don't talk if he answers. This is so annoying! Sprint can't block calls. The Attorney Generals office in Texas gave us numbers for the AG in New Jersey but they are closed by now. In the past 2 hours they have called 15 times. Lesson learned.....don't ever put your correct phone number on a inquiry, let them email you. We will see how long this goes one:(

Dodger is back
Some of you know that we have had a turtle, Dodger, in our backyard for about 4 years. Dodger would want corn, hamburger, grapes or apples almost every day, and there were times we would find him in the house if the back door was open, a very social turtle! A few months ago we had some landscaping done and we were afraid Dodge went for a stroll through the open gate. We have not seen Dodger since then until yesterday. We were sitting on the patio and heard the familiar thump, thump of Dodger on the flagstone. I don't know where he had been for 2 months, I am guessing he dug in somewhere to keep cool since it has been so hot. If Dodger is really hungry he will come up to our toes and nudge until we get him something. He got a slice of apple yesterday and certainly seemed to enjoy chomping down! Welcome back, Dodger!

Missing
Yesterday was one of those heart stopping days for about 3 hours. It started when T went to run in San Gabriel park a few miles from our house. The park is large and the San Gabriel river surrounds it. There is a 3 mile jogging track around the river, surrounded by trees and cliffs. She runs there several times a week, sometimes alone, which I am not too crazy about. She left about 7am and by 9 am she was not home, she usually returns in about 45 min. to 1 hr. We tried to call her on her cell and no answer. That is unusual since her cell phone attached to her body at all times. We drove to the park and found her car, purse, keys and cell phone in it,car locked. We debated about 2 minutes and called the police, it had now been 2 1/2 hours since we had seen her. The rule around here is if you change locations you call, period, and she has always been good about doing that. A police car arrived, took the information, checked her car,and called for the motorcycle policeman. He arrived and took off on the cycle around the path. Minutes passed and 2 more officers arrived, still nothing. They were calling for a dog and had alerted the park security and they were looking. Flashing through all of our minds was the disappearance of Rachel Cook in 2002, here in Georgetown. She was jogging and just disappeared and has never been found. The police had called in other officers and they were calling a criminal investigator, now it has been 3 very long hours. Rich had gone home to get her spare keys so we could unlock the car while they were waiting on the dog. About 5 minutes after he returned, T came up in a friends car. She had the deer in headlight look with all the police cars and officers around. She had simply gone with a friend to Java Juice, did I say simply? The police officers talked to her along with us, she apologized for all the worry and we went home with her safe and sound. Hard lesson learned....call when you change locations, one I don't think she will forget. It is very scary to know all of her possessions are in the car and not a sign of her anywhere. I am so thankful the police responded so quickly and things turned out OK.

The End of a Decade plus
I am sure everyone remembers how they started scrapping. I started in 1996, we had a restaurant with a large banquet center. Our event coordinator had booked a "crop" of about 75 CM ladies. I had no clue what a "crop" was or who CM was. When the event was going on I stopped by and was totally fascinated by these women with pictures, putting them in scrapbooks, and having so much fun! A few weeks later a scrapbook store opened just a few minutes from our restaurant, and I had to check it out. I was in heaven along with a store full of other customers. We called it the "butt bumping" store, it was so small you couldn't bend over without bumping into someone else. A new life had been born. Stickers, patterned paper, punches, deco scissors, what more could you want! Scrapbook Fever quickly became part of my weekly, if not daily routine. I shopped and loved that store! I remember there was a big oak tree in front of the store and a grocery store a few doors down. I could shop for scrapbook supplies and groceries in one stop.
The end of this 10 year plus era is happening this month. This store has weathered, at one time 5 other scrapbook stores, plus A's in the vicinity. I have been lucky enough to make many wonderful friends through Scrapbook Fever over the years. I was also fortunate enough to have taught many classes there and Lorrie was even nice enough to let me work there part time last year. It is sad to see Scrapbook Fever close but I know we all have wonderful memories and great friendships that are very special! In the days to come when we get together we will have some fun memories and "remember whens" to talk about. We will miss the Fever.

Voo Doo BBQ
I went to scrap at Liz's house last weekend and her DH cooked some delish Chinese food. We ate way too much and even scrapped some.
I am slowly doing our vacation pictures using the Bazzill Lickety Slip album, great idea to have a place to put those extra pictures.I am still out of the 12x12 layout routine but at least I am getting them done, slowly.I just noticed one of my O's is missing, guess it stuck to the dog, I'll have to find it and stick it back on:)Found it!

"Bee"jing Scrapbook Olympics
Here are some of the fun pictures of the retreat we went to last week. There were about 40 scrappers from Central Texas and each table had a theme, except ours, the tables were decorated in so many fun ways. We stayed up way too late, ate too much, but had a blast visiting and making new friends. I taught 2 classes using 2008 for the Olympics, thanks ladies for 2 great classes.

Corsicana
Marie, Patsy and I went to a fun packed retreat at Scrappin Good Time this weekend. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and the room was wonderful. Too bad we didn't sleep much in the comfy beds. Patsy got stuck on the roll away the first night and it wasn't great, so we didn't want to tourture her anymore so she got to sleep in the big girls bed! We scrapped and ate a lot! We went to Caleb's Diner, what a treat! There is a lot of history in that diner complete with a soda fountain and stools. It started in 1905 and is the oldest continually operated soda fountain in Texas. The hamburgers were wonderful and the step back in history was so much fun. We also ate at a Coffee Shop/Deli called 2 Doors Down. This old building was filled with nooks and crannies crammed full of fun things to look at! The coffee was great, the sandwich yummy and the bread pudding to die for!

Flower Power
I was at a retreat this weekend and noticed a lady scrapping beautiful flower pictures. I looked through her layouts and there was this bug. I believe it was from a flower/garden show in Dallas. She was so nice to give me a copy to add to my relative bug collection.
This has to be my 60's hippie sister!
The second picture, Karen's husband took at a restaurant. Those relatives are everywhere!
And yes, I am making a mini album that will be stuffed with all my relatives! I found a template for the old Beetle to use for the album!

Another Road Trip again
Off on another road trip. This time Marie and Patsy are going with me. Janet's daughter is graduating from A&M tomorrow so she is missing out. We are going to Corsicana, to Scrappin' Good Time for a retreat to celebrate the Olympics. It should be a lot of fun and I am teaching a fun class to go with it!

Birthday party
My dh and I have the same birthday, but he is older:)
Janet and Patsy took me to lunch at Wildfire Wednesday. Wonderful food and great company. We hadn't seen Patsy for a long time so there was a lot of catching up to do over the 2 hour lunch.
T took us to lunch the next day at Montana Mike's Steakhouse, we pigged out and opened our presents. She was disappointed that they didn't sing to us, but it was just fine with us.
A little know, probably totally unknown to anyone but my family, but I love to watch Dog, the Bounty Hunter. T gave me his life's story book and believe me that Dog had a rough life!
Thursday night, Janet, Bruce, Marie and Dan took us to La Margarita for another fun birthday celebration! Of course it would not be complete without the somberos and singing. Thanks for a fun birthday dinner! The waiter took our lovely picture but he didn't give it to us. Janet drove back there yesterday to get that picture. She was determined it belonged here.
Janet gave me this fun card, the lady has lots of bling, we both love bling on our layouts! Of course the inside is just too funny!
