Shenzi

This little rescue dog has made her special place in our hearts and lives. T went to the animal shelter 3 weeks ago and picked out Shenzi (Shin-Z). She looks like a hyena, ( the hyena from Lion King had this name) but is the sweetest little dog. Shenzi is about a year old, housebroken, and just a fun little dog. She must have been mistreated by a man, but slowly and surely is warming up to all of us. Will play ball all day and is going to obedience school. She will leave in August to spend her fall with T at college but for now we love having her here. Even Tiki tolerates her:)

Big Mom Album

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. This is a Big Mom Album I did, featuring my Mom. Putting each picture down was a great memory of her and her unique style in the 1940's. Paper by Graphic 45, and I loved making the rolled flowers out of the same paper.

Bluebonnet surprise

The bluebonnets are so beautiful this year! Linda and I decided to check out the cemetery behind our studio and what a wonderful discovery. This is on a gravel road and owned by a Catholic church. They do not allow plastic flowers, only planted flowers. This was such a peaceful and calming spot, with a fountain and wildflowers growing everywhere. There was an area for infants under an oak tree filled with windchimes, behind that was a beautiful prayer walk with flowers and benches. We were amazed at the mass of wildflowers growing there. If you live in our area, this is a side trip worth taking.

Amazing

DIL, Kerri is an amazing person and does amazing things, but we found out she does have a hidden talent. We were having dinner at the Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie. This historic house is home to 3 spirits that live in the restaurant.

Enough of the history, all of our drinks (all tea, coke and water) came with cherries. The conversation came up, who could tie the stem in a knot with their tongue....only 1 person raised their hand....the mother of my grandchildren, the Crafty Scrapper employe, wife to my son ,can do the tying the knot in the cherry stem in her mouth.

The busboy with the fancy tatoo on his neck stood speechless and totally blown away while Kerri did this.

The boys however impressed, were more intent on getting the last appetizer.

A fun day,a baseball game,a little CS shopping, and fun dinner, filled with talent.

Fixing old Sizzix dies

This is really a great tip!! I am going to dig some of my old ones out and see what happens.
Fixing Sizzix Dies
I also read that you could use the old red sizzix with the black sizzlit adapter for your CB embossing folders. I tried it with our chipboard, sprayed it with some TA or water and they embossed so easily running it through the old red sizzix!

The Best Texas

Sugar cookies you will ever eat! Sherri at Scrapbook n Such in Longview made the cookies to sustain us during our day long class. Isn't the Texas shape and the tray great! Linda and I had a lot of fun and she was such a big help.

Silver Lil made a new friend in Longview.....we had checked into the hotel and the person at the desk is just like me, left and right directions confuse her. She told us to go one way and Jill said another. We followed the desk clerks left turn and it turned out we were going the wrong way. After Linda went into a Quick Stop for directions, we pulled out and Silver Lil did her thing. She batted her little round eyes and flashed her Tail lights at a highway patrol. He was very impressed and decided to follow with his red and blue lights flashing back. SL wanted to pull over and chat with the black and white car, all the while I was telling her he was not her type!! Luckily the driver of the car with the flashing lights thought she was pretty cute too and only issued a warning. I personally think the cute driver just wanted more info on Silver Lil:) After this fun interval we arrived at Boomtown in Bossier City, LA. I had forgotten how smoky a casino could be so we stayed about 1 hr and headed back! Took one less turn than we should and had to redirect to the hotel.

The class Saturday was so much fun. I realized how much I had missed teaching and met some great ladies with lots of talent! After class 9 of us went out to eat Mexican food...delish! Karen had 2 of these cute aprons hanging in her office and I loved them. She was so sweet to give me one Sat. night....Thanks, Karen.
Linda and I left early Sunday morning and stopped in Powell, Texas and bought the best pecan pies in a spot in the road store!! It is always good to be home from a fun weekend!!

Hots

The 2 that guess were correct...painting a color called Whitened Sage. The reason behind all the work is we have moved to a larger studio, and will be open limited hours for retail sales. I am excited that I will be teaching classes along with some of our local favorite teachers. In the near future will post some class information and the store hours.

Silver Lil and Big Texas

My little silver bug is getting Spring Fever and needs some exercise. She got her nails and hair done, drank plenty of fluids so she will be hydrated and is ready to jog down the highway. Linda and I are leaving early tomorrow morning while it is cool and stopping at Scrappin Good Time . After resting and cooling down from that run, Silver Lil is heading for Scrapbook n Such in Longview. We are spending the weekend at SNS teaching this. I know we will have a great time with 20 fun ladies.
Friday night Silver Lil may have to jog over the Shreveport, LA to check out a casino or two, she might even find a friend to hang with!

First comes paint then

comes gridwall!
What could be next?
Some businesses offer certification in metal, pens, and spray, which all wonderful, so.......
I am thinking of doing a chipboard, paper and glue certification class. It would be reasonably priced,we would furnish the chipboard, you furnish the paper and glue. No experience necessary:)

Guess what

is going on?
It involves manual labor>
Mine.
It involves some sweat>
Mine.
Actually I really like what I am doing>
Can you guess?
The reason is why?
I think those people that live around here and those that come to visit will be pleased:)

On the way to pick up a few things

at the grocery store and this store next to it had a special going on:)
If you look close and see the chain link fence, could be a clue why the kids are free!
BTW, we didn't see any we wanted!
We did however see a really cute little dog that got loose from her owner in the Hobbly Lobby parking lot, ran full speed into HL, with the owner in full pursuit. Little dog won, took a fast tour of HL before she was stopped by a customer. Daddy dog owner was glad to take her home. I might had if she was standing under the sign!

Aggie Land andOther Stuff

Moving into Aggie Land. T moved into her new apartment Friday. Our little house mouse has moved into apartment living. Her apartment is on the 4th floor, and I was so glad there was an elevator.

Getting settled into her new bedroom!

It rained most of the move in day and then poured on my drive home. I hate driving at night anyway and the rain did not help at all.
My DH had knee replacement surgery today. Surgery went well, just had to repair a torn tendon that we didn't know about. This repair will add about 2-3 weeks on recovery time. He is has such a high pain tolerance and the morphine have kept him feeling pretty good today. Tomorrow he gets ups and walks plus starts PT, so hopefully that will go well.

If the shoe...uh cap fits

wear it! We went in a sporting goods store for a totally different item. Getting sidetracked is easy with a bunch of goofies and some caps that were screaming try me on! The 2 without the caps were enjoying the Cap Show!

A thought for the day in all this cold 17 degree weather.
Life if like a dogsled team.
If you aren't the lead dog,
the scenery never changes!

Love Banner

The Red Oak kids came down New Years day for a fun weekend of shopping and football. We went to Mighty Fine for a lunch of Mighty Fine Hamburgers and then shopping at Ikea and the Outlet Mall. The girls went to Wonderful Things and Gatherings in Georgetown for girl shopping.
Kerri made me this beautiful Love banner. I love it and I am going to hang it in my scrapbook room. Love the colors and the fun flowers!!

2010

Happy New Year! I don't make resolutions, I never keep them or remember what they were but I have a few thoughts on getting off on the right foot this year.

Walking more...we all need to do this in our family, but the proverbial "straw" was Tiki. She had her checkup last week and the vet said she needed to loose 1 pound ( wouldn't it be great if that is what the Dr. told us ) She weighs in at a huge 7.5 lbs, 4 of it is fur, and needs to loose the pound because her front foot is crooked and the extra weight makes her limp. Of course she can't stroll around the neighborhood alone so I will have to walk her and maybe just maybe I will loose a pound.

Eating healthy...it has to happen. Nuts are healthy..so to start the New Year I made a pecan pie for dessert when the kids come today. Helping the entire family eat healthy....go me!!

Blog more....maybe, but I will try to post some finished projects and at least post those. We have a show in Boston in March so I should have some new projects ready.

I really like the part of Jay Leno's show where he reads funny ads, articles, and pictures so to start off 2010 here is one we saw. Might want to get this fixed.
Just a little pet peeve of mine, notice how the red truck can't aim straight between the 2 long white lines to park! Bet he was distracted by reading the sign.
